Rodeos
Rodeo's
The rodeo has been promoted as great family fun, in truth it is nothing more than a blatant exhibition of animal abuse. It is impossible to have a humane rodeo, or one which does not pose serious risk of injury or death to animals, and humans. Although rodeo cowboys voluntarily risk injury by participating in rodeo events, the animals have no choice.
The majority of the animals used in rodeos (broncos, bulls, steers, and calfs) are completely domesticated and not naturally aggressive. Their wild behavior in rodeo events is artificially induced by painful or irritating provocation like tail twisting, or caddle prods. The reality is that domesticated horses won't buck without being provoked. Rodeo workers tighten leather "Flank Straps" just bellow the rib cage, and in an attempt to get it off the horses buck, often times injuring themselves severely.

Please don't patronize rodeos. There are plenty of humane ways to entertain you, and your family. Such as non-animal circuses: the Cirque du Soleil, the New Pickle Family Circus, Cirque Éloize.
